Fifteen years.  Sounds like such a long time ago doesn’t it?  Then how come it still feels like yesterday?

Fifteen years ago, I was sitting in my high school psychology class.  Probably staring at some girl.  Or taking notes.  Anything but what I would be doing for the rest of the day and the next day.  Or the day after that.  The next few days would be spent looking at horrific images of what had happened in Oklahoma City, while I was staring at some girl.  Or taking notes.  My first vision of the building would not take place until lunch.  A group of friends and I went to Simple Simon’s Pizza on the east side of Enid and were immediately floored by the sight of the Murrah Building.

I have marked April 19th 15 times now in the same fashion.  With song.  In the days after, local radio station 100.5 KATT played a special version of “Lightening Crashes” by LIVE.   Click here to hear the original KATT 100.5 version of Live – LightningCrashes.  It was the perfect song for the moment.  So, each year I’ve played the song.  I went searching it on YouTube for it and someone had another version on there along with a touching slideshow.

Where were you Route 60 nation? Feel free to share.

Until next time,

Mark Keefer
