An estimated 900 motorcycles will converge upon northwestern Oklahoma this weekend as they participate in the 8th annual Running of the Rats.  The “Rat Run,” as it has become known, is a poker run to raise money for the Kyle  “Ratboy” Traynor Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Participants will ride a 120 or so mile route, picking up playing cards along the way.  At the end of the run, the hands will be tallied and awards given out for the best and worst hands.

Pre-registration begins Friday night at Crappy’s Bar in Enid where the Mike McClure Band and Left Foot Sally and  will be offering hours of fantastic live music.  The run begins around 9:00 am. at the Frisco Bar and will conclude at the Enid Moose Lodge with bike games, BBQ, and more live music offered by Left Foot Sally and Bo Phillips.

It’s $25 to participate in the run, which gets you entry into Crappy’s for the pre-party and concert, an awesome t-shirt, the run map, the bike games and concert afterward.

This year’s route includes the following stops:

Michelle’s Family Tavern in Billings
Birdleg’s in Tonkawa
Rod’s Country Bar just outside of Ponca
7 Clans Paradise Casino
and the Hog Trough for the bonus stop

Generally, the Rat Run takes place on just about the hottest day of the year, but this weekend’s forecast is calling for beautiful weather in the 80’s, so there’s no reason not to get out and enjoy the day with a lot of good folks for a very good cause.

You do NOT have to have a motorcycle to participate in the run!

Watch out for bikers this weekend!
