As we approach Christmas, I thought I would give you, my dear readers, a taste of what Ilikes to listen to on MY iPod when it comes to Christmas music.  I’ll break it up into parts for simplicity.  Today, we examine what I call “The Classics.”  Tomorrow, we will examine more modern examples and reinventions of some timeless classics.

The Classics:

When you start a music compilation of classic Christmas music, the list should begin and end with Nat King Cole.

Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song:

Gene Autry: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Bing Crosby – Mele Kalikimaka

Given to you in its finest form:  From “Christmas Vacation.” (WARNING: THERE IS ALMOST SOME NUDITY….DAMN IT)

Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock

Brenda Lee: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Dean Martin – Silver Bells

The Chipmunks – Christmas Don’t Be Late

Frank Sinatra – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Nat King Cole – O’ Holy Night
