Mark Keefer’s Christmas Music Roundup: The Best of the Rest
I began my review of my favorite Christmas tunes yesterday here. Yesterday, I covered the classics. Today, I will cover the best of the rest. Essentially, anything made in the modern era not made by a guy name Nat or Bing. Again, these are in no particular order, I just felt like sharing my favorite Christmas tunes with the masses. And by masses, I’m being really, REALLY optimistic.
Anyone who knows me, knows I have a very strong attachment to The Beatles. So, naturally I have to include the following two songs.
John Lennon – Happy X-Mas
Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmas Time
The Beach Boys – Little Saint Nick
Mariah Carey – All I Want for Christmas is You
Tom Petty – Its Christmas Time Again
Straight No Chaser – 12 Days of Christmas Medley (listen to this…you will not regret it!!)
SOUTH PARK SECTION:
Several years ago, the television show “South Park” did a Christmas special. This was the Christmas special to end all Christmas specials as it added several songs to my iPod playlist. Now, I must warn you. If you are easily offended by foul language, religious stereotypes, and all that jazz, then its probably best not to listen to this shit.
Eric Cartman – O’ Holy Night (Version A)
Eric Cartman – O’ Holy Night (Version B Full Album Version)
South Park – Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel (Content Advisory: some shitty language and some jokes about Jews)
Mr. Garrison – Merry F***ing Christmas (Content Advisory: lots of uses of the word fuck and some really funny religious jokes)
So there it is. The best of the rest of my favorites. I didn’t get any comments on my previous column. So, I’m left to assume that either nobody read the article and disagreed with my choices or you hate Christmas and will likely rot in hell. Its one of those.
Until next time,

in case you didn’t already know it – you’re a genius. Except for that Mariah Carey fluff (or not) up there, I’m in total agreement.
The Tom Petty song is cool.
As far as these more modern, less traditional songs, I have always had a weird soft spot for the two Carpenters songs, “The Christmas Waltz” and “Merry Christmas, Darling”.
Jessica: Thanks for the compliment. I included the Carey song mainly because it is so upbeat and its fun. Is it the greatest? No way. Are you the greatest for commenting on my list? Yep!
Heather: The Carpenters? Really?
