ENID, OK (January 5, 2011) – On January 6, 2011, three architectural firms will attend the Enid City Commission meeting to showcase consideration of designs for the Enid Renaissance Program.

The three firms invited to present to the City Commission include Frankfurt Short & Bruza, WDM Architects and Convergence Design. During the meeting, the commission will have an opportunity to make a decision on determination of the request for proposals (RFP) for architectural design.

Previously, the City of Enid published a request for proposals to design a variety of downtown enhancements which were known as the Enid Renaissance Program. The proposals included a new event center, renovations of Convention Hall, renovating Cherokee Strip Conference Center and also a potential hotel site. 31 architectural firms were sought after and 12 firms responded. Five were selected for an interview based on their professional completeness, technical merits, projects approach and fast tracking qualifications. Interviews were conducted over two days by a committee comprised of citizens and staff.

In an effort to include and continue citizen participation, the study session as well as the regular session will be held in the Commission chambers.

City Manager, Eric Benson is eager to include citizen participation, “We enjoyed widespread excitement from our citizen’s group that observed the initial consideration of firms and their desire to further participate in the subsequent citizens/stakeholders group was evident.”

Thursday’s meeting will be broadcast live on Pegasys. Those wishing to attend Thursday’s meeting are asked to be seated in Commission chambers by 4 p.m.
