Enid Man Killed in Fiery I-35 Wreck

An Enid man, Jacob Burrell, was killed in a fiery accident on I-35 Friday morning.   The accident was around 8:30 Friday morning, at mile marker 151 Southbound I-35.

According to some eyewitness reports, the truck (falsely reported as a car in one instance), which had a trailer attached to it, began weaving erratically from lane to lane before it left the road, went airborne and eventually landed in a ditch when it exploded into flames.  Burrell was pronounced dead on the scene.  Police believe that Burrell fell asleep behind the wheel before the accident happened.

For more, here are some links to the Oklahoma city media outlets reports of the incident.  There are no local reports of the incident yet, as they do not exist other than this report.

Max Haley

Max Haley was born and raised in Northwest Oklahoma. As a child, he watched as the T-37s and T-38s roared over head. He smelled Champlin Refinery in all of its glory and later saw the glow in the sky from the fire. He was nearly ran over numerous times by farmers during harvest. He attended Tri-State back when it was more than a one hour event and the carnival wasn't "over there by the pool hall." Yes, Max is a true Northwest Oklahoman. Fun Fact: Max hopes one day to be inducted into the mythical "City Fathers" club in Enid.
