October 1, 2011 – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium; Norman, Okla
The University of Oklahoma football team throttled the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday, 62-6. The win brings the Sooners 4-0 on the season and the Cardinals drop to 3-2.
Starting nickelback Tony Jefferson absolutely took the game into his own hands during one portion of the second quarter when he snagged interceptions on three straight possessions. Most opponents know you can’t keep handing the Sooners offense the ball on a silver platter like that and the Cardinals were no different. The Sooners scored touchdowns 4 times in the second quarter alone.
Standout transfer Dominique Whaley continued his progression, running for 109 yards and had two scores. Landry Jones led the passing attack going 23-33 for 425 yards and 5 TD’s. Jones even introduced the long-ball to his repertoire in the second half, hitting hitting WR Ryan Broyles for a 64 yard TD and WR Jazz Reynolds for 56 yard TD all within 1 minute in the 3rd quarter.
The Sooners now head into the rivalry game next week against the University of Texas at the State Fair in Dallas.
