Enid Police received a 911 call from 418 N. 16th last night at approximately 5:12 PM and the caller stated that their baby was not breathing. Officer Siragusa arrived and found the father performing CPR on his infant son in the front yard of this residence. The infant was identified as 7 month old Russell Castner. Officer Siragusa assisted with CPR and attempted to use his Automated External Defibrillator. Enid Fire Department Engine Company #3 arrived on scene and took over and continued CPR. LIFE EMS arrived on scene and transported the infant to St. Mary’s Hospital. Doctors there attempted to revive the infant, however he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are currently investigating the death. DHS responded and also conducted an investigation. John Castner (27) and Michelle Rancourt (28) are the parents. They told detectives that their son was asleep on their bed and apparently rolled off of the bed into a pile of clothing. Detectives observed that the bed was a box spring and mattress on the floor.
