Title:  Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir

Author:  Jenny Lawson

WARNING: Do not attempt to silently read this book in bed while your spouse is sleeping next to you. Violent fits of laughter will cause said spouse to give you looks of pure, unadulterated evil that could indeed kill you. Well, that is, if looks could actually kill you.

Lets Pretend This Never HappenedThis book is hilarious.

You should read it just because of that statement but I suppose I will tell you more about it than that.

Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, is foul mouthed and despite her upbringing has an amazing sense of humor. Each chapter is a standalone story similar to the style blog posts are written in. They begin with her bizarre childhood and progress through her awkward teen years into adulthood as a wife and mother.

Chapter titles include: “Stanley the Magical, Talking Squirrel”; “A Series of Angry Post-It Notes to My Husband”; “And Then I Snuck a Dead Cuban Alligator on an Airplane.” There are several pictures included as proof the things in her stories actually did happen because the stories are just so far out there.

If you’re easily offended though, pass this book up. Jenny could make sailors blush with her harsh language. Also, there’s bound to be at least one story where you’ll think, “Now that’s just not funny.” Ok, either skip that chapter to stay mad at the book, but I did warn you it would happen.
