Enid Public Schools

Enid Public Schools is raising funds to make a difference for Moore teachers.
EPS employees, along with other educators across the state, are collecting Visa gift cards to be donated to educators whose classrooms were devastated during the May 20 tornado. Although the building and district-owned materials are covered by insurance, unfortunately, personal items purchased by the teachers are not.

Superintendent Shawn Hime said this effort is part of a state-wide project to provide each educator at Briarwood and Plaza Towers elementary schools with $500 in gift cards to outfit their new, temporary classrooms in the fall.
“Teachers spend a significant amount of their own money and time setting up their classrooms to create an ideal learning environment for students. When the buildings were destroyed, these teachers lost years’ worth of supplies and materials,” Hime said. “This is a small way we can show our support and appreciation for their courageous acts of heroism on that tragic day.”

Members of the Enid community are invited to assist with fundraising by delivering pre-paid Visa gift cards to Central Office at 500 S. Independence before July 20. EPS staff will also pick up gift card donations. No cash or check contributions, please.
