Advance Pierre Foods is partnering with Leonardo’s Children’s Museum for a volunteer work day at Adventure Quest this Thursday from 8:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M.  Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

“Adventure Quest was built by 12,000 volunteers,” said Julie Baird, Leonardo’s Executive Director.  “It opened in 1996, and since has welcomed more than 1,000,000 visitors from all over the world.  It is especially meaningful to us that local companies like Advance Pierre Foods continue to support our efforts.  Having a large number of volunteers will enable us to complete several much needed projects in a timely fashion.  All of us at Leonardo’s are very grateful for their help,” Baird concluded.

Don Rose, a Leonardo’s board member and Advance Pierre employee is coordinating the volunteer day, along with APF co-worker Kandi Nelson.  Rose also wants to express his appreciation for local companies DML Power Washing and Sherwin-Williams Company for their donations of labor and supplies.

Individuals NOT employed by Advance Pierre Foods are also encouraged to volunteer.  Job for skilled and unskilled volunteers include weeding flower beds, staining the AQ fence, moving sand, trimming vines and trees, and much more.  Volunteers should bring work gloves, shovels, rakes, hedge clippers, and wheelbarrows.  Everything should be clearly labeled with the owner’s name. Cold water and Gatorade will also be provided by Advance Pierre Foods.

“This is a great, fun way to give back the community.  As an added benefit, volunteers can earn free elementary art or science classes for your favorite teacher or classroom,” Baird continued.  “Just specify which teacher/class when registering that day.”  Registration opens at 8 A.M.  for non Advance Pierre Foods employees.
